Applying to a competitive university requires more than strong grades. Students are expected to think independently, articulate ideas clearly, and demonstrate academic maturity.

I work with students to develop these skills in a structured, supportive way.

This includes:

  • Personal statement development

  • Interview preparation and articulation practice

  • Clarifying academic interests and direction

  • Academic confidence and critical thinking coaching

  • Guidance on academic positioning and subject focus

I work with:

  • Students who are academically capable but unsure how to express themselves

  • Students who feel anxious, overwhelmed, or underconfident

  • Families seeking thoughtful, personalised guidance

This service is best suited to students who benefit from ongoing support, as well as last-minute edits and preparation.

Academic Writing & Research Skills

Skills-based support for students at sixth-form or university level.

Many students are told that their writing lacks clarity or needs more analysis without ever being shown how to improve it. Over time, this can lead to frustration, anxiety, or a sense that academic writing is something opaque and inaccessible.

My work focuses on making academic writing legible and learnable.

I support students to understand how arguments are built, how ideas are developed across an essay, and how evidence is used persuasively. Rather than correcting work for students, I work alongside them to strengthen their thinking and help them recognise patterns they can apply independently.

This includes:

  • Essay structure and argument development

  • Close reading and critical engagement with texts

  • Academic voice and clarity

  • Research planning and organisation

  • Referencing and proofreading

I do not provide ghostwriting or editing services that remove the student’s own voice. The emphasis is on skill development, academic integrity, and long-term confidence.

Ongoing Academic Mentorship
£425.00

For a small number of students, I offer longer-term academic mentorship. Ongoing mentorship is designed for students who benefit from continuity and a trusted external perspective.

This may include:

  • Regular check-ins around workload and deadlines

  • Support with planning essays and revision schedules

  • Developing independent study habits

  • Talking through academic challenges or blocks

  • Support during transition points (e.g. GCSE to A-level, A-level to university)

This is particularly helpful for students who are capable but prone to overwhelm, perfectionism, or self-doubt. Rather than focusing only on immediate outcomes, we work on:

  • Confidence

  • Perspective

  • Academic maturity

  • Self-trust

I work with a small number of students in this way to ensure consistency and quality.

Fees & Structure

Ongoing Academic Mentorship is offered on a monthly basis to support continuity and steady progress.

The guide fee is £425 per month, which typically includes:

  • Six to eight one-to-one sessions per month (1-hour, 1.5-hour, or 2-hour sessions)

  • Priority scheduling to ensure consistency and flexibility around academic deadlines

  • Light ongoing email support throughout the month for brief questions, clarification, or check-ins

This structure is designed to provide regular, reliable support while allowing space for independent work between sessions.

Where appropriate, this format can be tailored to individual needs (for example, by adjusting the frequency of sessions or the level of ongoing support) and this is discussed during the initial consultation to ensure the arrangement is appropriate and sustainable.
